Sample: Bekins Moving Checklist for the day of your move:
Note: Plan to have your pets boarded long before the movers come so they aren’t upset by all their familiar things disappearing. Dogs can get very upset and cats will run and hide from strange noises and people, too. They may not come back by the time you are ready to go. Cats and dogs are creatures of habit and do not feel comfortable with change, so you must supervise the changing environment very carefully: plan to house cats at a cat-only boarding kennel a week in advance of your move. Watch for anything that may be harmful to your pets before then, such as sharp objects, chemicals, and interesting yet inedible strings or trinkets laying around. Make sure cords on curtains and blinds are tucked out of reach.
___Review all paperwork with your Bekins driver.
___Be available to check off inventory of all items moving.
___Once moving van is loaded, double check that nothing was left behind in closets, basement, attic, cabinets, drawers, etc.
___Make sure your children and pets are not at home so that they do not get in the way of the movers.
